Welcome to our new Drama Blog here at St Laurence School. It has been lovely to get back into the practical classroom spaces and all year groups have been making the most of being ‘back to normal’. Year 7 have been learning that ‘Drama is Serious Fun’, Year 8 have been exploring communicating in goobledy-gook and Year 9 have produced some excellent moving pieces based on the poem ‘Dulce Et Decorum Est’ by Wilfred Owen – complete with lights and the soundtrack – ‘Le Depart’ by The Style Council. Our Year 10 GCSE students have got off to a great start, producing extracts from ‘Macbeth’ in newly created theatre companies whilst Year 11 took to the stage, performing their devised assessments to a real live audience in the studio. Our A Level students in Year 12 have been exploring different theatre practitioners including Punchdrunk, John Godber and Kneehigh and Year 13 are busy rehearsing their scripted pieces ready for their assessment on the 15th November. We even went to the theatre! Year 10-13 enjoyed a trip to the Bristol Old Vic to see ‘Wuthering Heights’ – a production by theatre company Wise Children based on the novel by Emily Bronte.
Now the blog is up and running we look forward to telling more about events as they happen – watch this space as we have lots of exciting things planned!
